Measure Your Foot and Compare Shoe Sizing
Take a heel-to-toe measurement before choosing your next shoe size. Then match it to a chart that measures foot length—or ask for the specific shoe measurement you need. A clear starting point makes the size options much easier to compare.
Measure first, then open the size options
- Put a sheet of paper on a firm, level floor and keep it from moving.
- Stand on it with your weight balanced. Mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe; a helper can make the marks easier to place.
- Measure between the two marks with a ruler or tape. Write down the value and its unit.
- Repeat for the other foot and keep both results. Use the chart’s own instructions when comparing them with its size rows.
Look specifically for a foot length heading. A CM value printed on a shoe label can be a size designation rather than the length you just measured. Keeping those labels separate saves you from comparing two different kinds of number.
Choose the measurement that answers your question
- Foot length: start here for a foot-length chart.
Your heel-to-toe result is the relevant comparison. Keep the chart’s units and stated method alongside it, then read the matching size label.
- Removable insole: useful for comparing inserts.
If you have a comfortable shoe with a removable insert, a like-for-like insert measurement may help you compare another pair. Specify where each measurement begins and ends, and use the same method for both.
- Outsole: useful for the shoe’s outside dimensions.
This measures the sole underneath the shoe. Keep it as an external measurement rather than subtracting a guessed amount to calculate room inside.
Length is one part of fit. When length looks suitable but you are concerned about width or toe shape, ask about that part of the shoe instead of automatically moving up a size.
Make the next question specific to your pair
Open shoe find 5747 to see its combined US, UK and EUR size choices. If you want to compare an insert length, name the exact size option in your request so the answer relates to the pair you are considering.
For this selected size, can you show the removable insert beside a ruler, with the unit, ruler start and both ends visible?
Use that request when insert removal and a measurement photo are available. Compare the result with an insert measured the same way, then return to the product’s exact size choice.

For a better ruler view, choose a precise photo request rather than asking for more photos of the whole shoe.
